Updated May 13, 2018 12:48:13There’s no denying the blackberry, the mobile device that has become a staple of sports fandom since its debut in 2005.
And yet, according to a new report, there are some teams that are the most pricey in the league.
The study conducted by CNET’s Consumer Price Index, released Monday, ranks every NFL team based on the average price for a cell phone with a 4G LTE device from the top 25 companies in the country.
Each team is separated into four tiers based on its cost to the average consumer, with the lowest tier at $300 and the highest at $600.
The study includes all of the major cell phone companies in North America, as well as smaller companies like Verizon Wireless, Sprint and AT&T.
The most expensive teams are the Buffalo Bills, who make $1,600 for a 4GB iPhone 5S and $1.3 million for a 6GB iPhone 6 Plus.
The Cleveland Browns are next at $1 million for an iPhone 5C and $2,300 for a iPhone 6S Plus.
The San Diego Chargers are at the bottom of the list at $900 for an iPad Air, and the Miami Dolphins are at $500 for an Android tablet.
The bottom tier of the report is the “low end,” which is a $500 cell phone for a single person.
It’s the cheapest cell phone available in the United States for the same price as a car, a $1 piece of furniture, or $2 in groceries.
The Bills and Browns have a history of releasing high-end phones with high-priced components.
The Bills released a premium-sized iPhone 5 in 2014, with an iPhone 6+ and a 4.7-inch display.
The Browns also released a 6-inch iPhone 6 in 2016.
While the Bills have a solid legacy with high sales, it’s unclear if the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have the same longevity.
That’s why the Bills aren’t in the “Low End” tier, but the iPhone 5s and 6s have much better margins, according the CNET study.
According to the report, only three other teams made the top 10.
The New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers make up the bottom 10, while the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, New York Giants, Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Minnesota Vikings are the teams that make the top 20.
The NFL has been cracking down on cell phone costs for years, but it hasn’t always been effective.
In 2017, the league levied a $50,000 fine on Verizon for using the terms “lowest” and “highest” in advertising during a commercial.
The 2017 NFL season began on June 24, so it will be interesting to see how the new report affects the league’s strategy moving forward.
